1st National Conference | ||
Introduction:- Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai organized the National Seminar & Research Conference on “Library: a Temple of Learning & Knowledge House Saturday 14th March 2009 The role of library professionals in the present internet era is drastically changing as the scope and practice of the profession broadens beyond physical collections and reference service toward remote access and systems development. In this new environment, it is very much important to build the evidence based knowledge base to practice best methods and to use evaluation techniques to constantly improve the quality of the services. We wanted to see skills of practicing special librarian’s resources persons for evidences and learn how to translate this knowledge into our systems. |

Inaugural Ceremony:- The national Seminar & Research Conference was inaugurated by Dr. Ajit Singh President of Forum of Minority Management Institutions, Mumbai and Dr R.P. Dixit Director of MGM (LIB) MGM Medical College and Hospital, Komothe , New Mumbai. At the Conference Hall on 14th March 2009. The conference was started with introduction of dignitaries on the dais. Dr. Bernadette D’Silva Director of GNIMS, introduced all the dignitaries on the dais and welcomed with a fruit bouquet and token .She also welcomed the august gathering. She briefly explained about the history of GNIMS, its objectives and activities. Emphasizing the need to understand the redefined role of profession. |

Chief Guest Dr. R.P. Dixit, in his inaugural address briefed about the need for the establishment of Library need of the day and its importance. The best modern library presently available. He also said that due to technological advances, the library focus has been shifted from acquisition to direct access to information. He mentioned the wonderful economic model in the electronic era that “You sell the product, but still it remains with you. He concluded by highlighting the importance of management libraries for the MBA students. |

2nd National Conference | ||
Introduction:- Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai organized the 2nd National Research Conference on “Library: a Temple of Learning & Knowledge House Saturday 16th January 2010 According to fifth Law of Library Science ‘Library is a growing organism’. As a result of this many libraries have over the years grown into large organizations. Libraries have also been influenced by the rapid advances in information technology. Application of information technology has made it possible for these to expand their sphere of activities. Description are as simple and direct as could be possible have been given. The purpose of this conference would be well served if the interest, confidence, communication and dedication of the professional friends and colleagues is encouraged and they are motivated to work as a team without losing their individuality and respecting individual difference of the team members. Objective of this Research Conference: There is a growing recognition of the need to manage the increasing flow of information, ideas & knowledge more optimally as well as more efficiently. The Conference aims to bring together Academicians, Researchers and Industry Practitioners on a single platform to review research in the domain of Library & Information Management at different levels and recommend strategies for improving the quality of Library and Information Management Services. Over 67 librarians, documentation officers, Information Scientists and teachers from different parts of India like Mangalore, New Delhi, Chapra Bihar, Pune, Nasik, Hyderabad. Aurangabad, Nanded ,Punjab, Aligarh, including Mumbai participated in this one day Research Conference. |

Secretaty LMC, GNIMS, Mumbai and President of Forum of Minority Management Institutions, Mumbai and Dr. Satish Kanamadi, Sr. Assistant Librarian of Tata Institute of Social Science Mumbai. At the Conference Hall on 16th January 2010. The conference was started with introduction of dignitaries on the dais. Dr. Ajit Singh Executive Director & Addl. Secretaty LMC, GNIMS, introduced all the dignitaries on the dais and welcomed with a bouquet, shawl. Coconut and token .He also welcomed the august gathering..
